Amberley Castle Wedding Photographer in Sussex

Bride and groom hug closely on their wedding day at Amberley Castle in West Sussex.

A historic wedding venue in West Sussex

If you’re a history lover seeking an iconic wedding venue in the heart of Sussex, Amberley Castle could be the perfect royal setting. This magnificent fortress is a living testament to centuries of romance and history. Featuring monumental battlements, towering stone walls, and quaint gardens, this castle bears witness to the passage of kings and knights.

Constructed in the 12th century, Amberley Castle was a defensive stronghold developed for the Bishop of Chichester. Over time, it became exposed as a noble residence, a fortress, and a prestigious symbol of power for its inhabitants.

One of the highlights is that Amberley Castle has always been associated with romance, making it a fitting venue for weddings. Featuring panoramic landscape views, this setting exposes a beautiful illustration of what Medieval life would have been like, a romantic snapshot of a bygone era. This majestic venue in West Sussex has been the focus for many couples seeking a fairy-tale wedding.

Why I enjoy photographing here

Working in this historic setting as a wedding photographer is an immense pleasure, as there are so many pretty locations to shoot in and many unique angles for me to frame my subjects. With my journalistic style, I use various lenses and focal lengths to document the wide architectural shots and intimate close-ups. This allows me to tell the whole story and produce a comprehensive gallery for you to relive the special moments of your marriage for years to come.

One of my favourite spots to take the newlyweds is in the quaint gardens of Amberley Castle, adorned with various colourful flowers and soft light. I use these elements to frame the couple beautifully against the exposed brickwork of the venue. Another area is the gated entrance with its iconic portcullis, surrounded by the calm, still waters of the moat. Creating artistic imagery that depicts the love between the bride and groom is what I do best, and developing a good rapport on the day will help me to magnify this.

Today, the castle continues to be in very high demand. With its historic charm, impressive architecture, and idyllic surroundings, it’s not difficult to understand why I adore capturing weddings here. In short, Amberley displays an unparalleled backdrop for a timeless photomontage of your most special day for you to keep forever.

A Medieval accommodation for a unique experience

With luxurious rooms, regal service, and delicious catering options, the bride and groom can experience a truly royal banquet. They can choose an intimate ceremony or a lavish reception in the beautiful dining hall. No matter how couples use the venue, every aspect of the process is planned and executed smoothly with the help of the dedicated wedding coordinators.

Are you looking for an Amberley Castle Wedding Photographer?

Documenting extraordinary moments at Amberley is a great pleasure. My thoughtful nature and over 15 years of photojournalism experience help me to focus on the real emotions of the day. I’ll tell the story at this authentic Sussex venue with meaningful pictures, delivering timeless snapshots with my cameras. With a candid approach, I adopt an unobtrusive manner as I work around the wedding party, depicting the moments through my camera’s viewfinder.

At this castle, blending into the action allows me to create a good rapport with the guests as the wedding develops throughout the day. For each wedding, I carry a rucksack containing my camera equipment. I pack multiple lenses on the day for each body, from Wide-angle to tighter telephoto lenses that allow me to capture the distant details close-up. Once the light has disappeared in the courtyard, I’ll start using prime lenses instead of zooms to take great-quality images at a lower f-stop easily. The quicker shutter speed allows for a stable shot, and when the dancing starts, I’ll set up my flashgun around the barn to creatively shape and craft the light.

Working as a Sussex wedding photographer at Amberley Castle is very rewarding, so if you are planning to tie the knot in this authentic location, please get in touch.

An intimate wedding at Amberley Castle

Josie and Andy’s intimate wedding was magical, and the couple exchanged vows during the ceremony in the garden as I observed through the lens. With their closest friends and family in attendance, it was a celebration of their love as they committed to one another. The picturesque grounds made for some artistic portraits of the newlyweds, whilst the castle’s grand dining hall was the regal space for their royal banquet. The bride and groom felt like kings and queens as they celebrated around the table in this Old English setting.

I enjoyed documenting this fabulous wedding with my cameras and processing their images after the event. It was a pleasure. I wish Josie and Andy the best in the next chapter of their adventure together as husband and wife. Their gallery preview depicts their unity at the magnificent Amberley Castle…….

“Thank you so much for all the amazing pictures. It was great having you around to photograph our beautiful day; we’re delighted. It was tough, but after the honeymoon, we finally selected 100 pictures for the album!” – Andy and Josie.
