Set in the heart of the Newdigate countryside, Gildings Barn was the perfect choice for Clare and James’ wedding reception back in August. Several weeks earlier, I took the couple to the beautiful Mayfield Lavender fields in Banstead for their sunset engagement shoot. The pictures were stunning, and the shoot went on to feature on the excellent Whimsical Wonderland Wedding Blog just before the big day.
Their day began at Clare’s parents’ house, where the bridesmaids gathered, waiting to see the beautiful bride emerge! Clare looked spectacular, and I had just enough time to capture some portraits of her before heading off to St. Mary’s church in Reigate. It was great to meet James and the guests and capture the anticipation before the big moment.
After the ceremony, the bridal party travelled in style in three vintage cars and a camper van to Gildings Barn for their relaxed reception. I was amazed at quite how remarkable the venue really is! Clare (an interior designer) had gone to town on every little detail with everything from rose chandeliers to handmade bunting and hearts hanging from the trees.
Wedding Reception at Gildings Barn
Upon arriving, I took the newlyweds around the grounds for a relaxed couple shoot whilst the guests played quoits and croquet. The speeches were hilarious, and the room was filled with merriment as James was ridiculed by his two best men. Once the first dance finished, the dance floor was heaving, and the partying continued until the early hours!
