From the moment I arrive, I’m greeted with beautiful landscaped gardens, expansive grounds and pretty flowerbeds. This attention to detail adds romance and charm to every corner. As a photographer, I love the geometric lines and pristine lawns that provide fabulous backdrops in my compositions. The venue features a range of idyllic settings such as the Threshing Barn, the Dairy Barn, and the Secret Garden, each offering its own ambience and character. Whether it’s the rustic luxury of The Threshing Barn with its original oak beams or the peaceful serenity of The Dairy Barn, working here is a creative photographer’s dream.
One of the many unique spots is the Milking Parlour, which has been converted into a Bridal Suite. Here, the newlyweds can relax and reminisce about the magic of their special day. It’s the perfect space for preparations before the ceremony whilst I document the excitement and anticipation. And then there’s Mama Lou—a sumptuous Shepherd’s Hut set amongst nature, offering modern comforts in a cosy setting.

Antonia and Will’s wedding pictures at Southend Barns
Antonia and Will’s special day at Southend Barns was a wonderful, intimate celebration. After postponing their wedding due to lockdowns, it was amazing that they could finally tie the knot with their loved ones. Although they scaled their celebration to 15 people, it was filled with love and emotional moments.
With the wedding in April, they were blessed with great weather, warm sunshine, and deep blue skies. They exchanged vows during the outdoor ceremony in the Secret Garden before celebrating with their guests in the Collecting Yard and Gardens. After the wedding breakfast and speeches, I led the newlyweds on a tour of the scenic grounds for some romantic shots. Antonia and Will looked at ease in front of the camera, which resulted in some beautiful, relaxed images of them as husband and wife.
With a gorgeous sunset that evening, this made for an iconic set of photos to finish their day on a high. Working with such a relaxed and friendly bride and groom was a pleasure, and I’m excited to share the highlights of their intimate day at Southend Barns.

Fitting in at this rustic barn allows me to create a genuine illustration as the wedding develops. I bring several lenses on the day. I use wide-angle lenses to establish the venue and fill the composition with several elements and telephoto lenses to capture the details in close-ups. As it gets dark, I’ll put the zooms in my camera bag and use my prime lenses. I can easily create fantastic imagery in low light with a wider aperture. The faster shutter speed allows me to take a stable shot, while my flashguns will enable me to creatively shape the light in the barns.
