Stunning wedding venue in Dorking

Deep in the heart of the beautiful Surrey countryside, the magnificent building of Wotton House is at the end of the mile-long scenic driveway. With its stunning 17th-century architecture, the hotel features Roman-style temples, bridges, caves, ponds and even a stream, all set within 13 acres of beautifully manicured gardens. There are endless opportunities for great photography with stunning backdrops as far as the eye can see!

It’s an impressive Grade II listed house featuring high ceilings and wood panelling, oozing elegance and sophistication at this private residence. Part of the De Vere Hotels group, Wotton House is highly regarded as one of Surrey’s most spectacular wedding venues. Being a professional photographer is my dream job, and as the bride and groom exchange their vows, I’ll always be on hand to freeze those special moments in time.

The word Wotton originates from the Anglo-Saxon tribes of ancient England. Their name derives from the terms wudu (which means wood) and tun (which means settlement). So you can see how this magnificent building became known as the Wotton House we know and love today. For photography, there’s a whole host of different options to choose from when getting married at Wotton that cater for your every need. From smaller intimate affairs to lavish weddings on a larger scale, the sky is the limit with this fantastic wedding setting.

As a former television cameraman, I worked on various documentaries and dramas. This experience has assisted me in crafting my photojournalistic skills, and I’m very proud to be named one of the Top 50 wedding photographers in the UK. I aim to tell your unique story with pictures that reflect your personality. You’ll be able to look back on your special day with meaningful images that depict the love and joy you felt. These moments will last a lifetime, and you can cherish these crucial memories forever.

I adopt a relaxed and calm demeanour to blend into the action. The guests hardly notice me as I move around quietly, observing the action through my viewfinder. I approach my photography unobtrusively, allowing you and your guests to enjoy the special moments without worrying about my camera. This results in a beautiful depiction of your big day, encapsulating the emotions and happiness in pictures.

Sherene and Horace’s wedding day at Wotton House was full of joy, love and emotion. They exchanged their vows in the elegant Old Library, witnessed by their closest friends and family. Once the ceremony had finished, they headed outside to a shower of confetti as the guests gathered around them in the garden. Once the newlyweds had plenty of champagne and time to celebrate, I captured the group shots with the Temple in the composition.

It was a wonderful summer day at the country estate which provided a colourful backdrop for their bride and groom portraits. Laughter and tears of joy filled the air during the speeches as their guests toasted to their happiness. It was a fantastic day, and I really enjoyed working with such a fun and relaxed couple.

Ashley and Sean’s wedding ceremony was held in Wotton House’s elegant old library. The library’s columns adorned with twinkling fairy lights provided the magical backdrop for their vows. With the rain forecast, we managed to dodge the raindrops as I led them around the beautiful gardens for some intimate pictures as their guests mingled. The opulent Evelyn Suite, a light-filled room overlooking the rear gardens, was the wonderful setting for the meal and evening celebrations. With an unexpected appearance from the singing waiters, everyone cheered and danced along to 80’s hits! Ashley and Sean then cut their cake and took to the dancefloor to kick off the party.

As the evening progressed, we headed outside for some atmospheric evening shots under the beautiful night sky. Wotton House made for the perfect setting for Ashley and Sean’s wedding and their special day was a pleasure to document with my cameras.

Tammy and Josh’s special day at Wotton House took place in August, and what an amazing wedding it was! Tammy got ready at home with her bridesmaids before tying the knot at the local church. Their reception at Wotton House unfolded with lots of excitement and memorable moments, which made for some fantastic pictures. Surrounded by their loved ones, their day radiated anticipation and excitement for their adventure ahead.

From the hilarious speeches to the dancing on the dance floor, every picture was infused with magic, illustrating their wonderful connection. Working with such a kind and friendly couple was a pleasure, and I wish them all the best on their world travels together as husband and wife.

Natalie and John got married at Wotton House in the Autumn against the picture-perfect backdrop of the country estate. I really enjoyed working with this easy-going couple. Here are some of their magic evening shots under the starry twilight sky.

Martin and Matthew wanted relaxed, story-telling images from their wedding photography at Wotton House. Their special day was a thrilling celebration of their love with their family and friends. The Old Library’s timeless beauty provided the wonderful backdrop for the ceremony, whilst the elegant Evelyn Suite was the setting for the wedding reception. Their union resonated with everyone throughout the day. Each moment, from the heartwarming ceremony to the witty speeches, resulted in excellent photos. Documenting their commitment to each other was a joy, and I’m very grateful to them for choosing me as their wedding photographer.

Lizzy and Tyler’s day was filled with energy and magical details! The grandeur of Wotton House provided an elegant setting as they exchanged vows. Lizzy’s radiant smile, along with Tyler’s emotions of joy, made for some iconic images for them to remember their wedding by. Each element, from the tearful ceremony to their epic first dance, encapsulated the smiles of happiness as they embarked on their new journey together. It was an amazing wedding, and I’m very excited to share their highlight here.

Wotton House is an incredible venue for taking pictures on the wedding day. If you are planning your special day at this Surrey location and looking for a photographer, I’d love to hear your wedding plans. I have developed a friendly photography style to put my subjects at ease on their big day, illustrating their emotions and feelings. From the happy tears to the joyous laughter, I want this to be depicted in your images.

Telling the story through my lens is what I’m good at, and I can blend in easily at Wotton House to become part of the occasion. Helping the couple to get the most from their wedding is my primary focus, as when my subjects are enjoying themselves, the photography will speak for itself with beautiful compositions. My approach to photography at Wotton, or any other venue I shoot at, is very natural, with no awkward posing.

I don’t want my pictures to look overprocessed or oversaturated, and I prefer subtle hues and tones to enhance the bride and groom. I urge my couples to enjoy their special day while I document the action with my cameras.
