Information about the venue
Just imagine: You’ve met your ideal partner, someone you want to spend the rest of your life with. But where to hold the wedding reception? That is the question. A close friend just happens to own a Grade II* listed 16th Century manor house, complete with a fabulous moat and spacious Tudor barn, and is prepared to make the historic building and stunning landscaped gardens available to you for up to seven days. This dream can become reality when you book Crow’s Hall near Debenham in Suffolk for your unique wedding.
Crow’s Hall is privately owned and is available for only a handful of wedding receptions each year. Although not licensed for civil ceremonies, there are several beautiful local churches nearby. Since 2005, an extensive programme of repairs and refurbishment have been lovingly carried out by the new owner, Caroline Spurrier, with the help of specialist architects and skilled craftsmen.
The delightful gardens have been designed by award winning garden designer, Xa Tollemache, and comprise: a formal garden with a decorative dipping pool and fountain, a Tudor-style knot garden with low-growing clipped hedges and an amphitheatre — all set within a stunning moat with far-reaching views of the rolling Suffolk countryside and the Deben hills. Outside the moat, there are two ‘stew ponds’ that, in earlier times, would have stocked fish for cooking in the kitchen and serving up in the Great Hall. So you can see, there’s no shortage of wonderful backdrops for your stunning photographs.
One of the best wedding venues in Suffolk
The beamed, vaulted barn is 72 metres long and the place to hold your wedding reception and evening entertainment, seating capacity 160-180 seated guests, and 250 for the evening. Over the years, the barn has seen many uses, including: a granary, a brewhouse, stables and home for livestock. Today, when not serving as winter storage or workshops for the 400-acre farm, the barn is transformed into an authentic backdrop for your special wedding. Crow’s Hall may be old, but is always warm and cosy, thanks to a three tonne, 200Kw biomass woodchip boiler affectionately known as ‘Boudicca’.
A romantic bridal suite with accommodation for the wedding party is available. There is also ample space for the erection of large marquees and teepees in the grounds allowing capacity for 400 guests with space for luxury camping.
Everything about Crow’s Hall, from the amazing house to the beautiful barn and the wonderful surroundings, contribute to the fairy-tale wedding you have always dreamed of. A set of my stunning photographs with ensure many happy memories for years to come.
