Hedingham Castle Wedding Venue in Essex

Hedingham Castle Wedding Venue is incredibleInformation about the venue

Nestled in 160 acres of spectacularly stunning landscaped gardens and woodland, the 900-year-old Norman keep of Hedingham Castle, four miles from Halstead in north-east Essex, is a unique and romantic location for your special wedding day. The original castle was constructed in the late 11th and early 12th centuries. Today, the excellently preserved stone-built keep is the only major medieval structure to survive. As you can imagine, the five-storey keep and surrounding gardens offer a plethora of wonderful backdrops for your memorable wedding photographs.

So popular is Hedingham Castle that it was chosen as the location for the feature film ‘The Reckoning’ starring Willem Dafoe, the BBC drama ‘Ivanhoe’, the documentary ‘Made in Britain’ with Fred Dibnah, and ‘The Shakespeare Theory’ with Derek Jacobi.

With a capacity for 100 guests, the great Banqueting Hall of the Keep is an impressive room for your candlelit ceremony, with a grand fireplace and a central arch extending two floors and additional space for 30 guests seated in the Minstrels’ Gallery. After the ceremony, you and your guests can wander over Henry VII’s Tudor Bridge to the Mansion House. Relax here and enjoy a glass of champagne overlooking the delightful gardens and picturesque, ornamental lake.

The beautifully appointed Marquee behind the Georgian Mansion stands beneath the shade of a rare tulip tree and is ideal for your evening reception, with ample space for up to 150 guests. The marquee boasts its own concealed dance floor and private bar and will ensure that celebrations continue in full swing until midnight. For 70 guests or fewer, the impressive Tapestry Room in the keep is now also available for smaller receptions.

At the end of your unique, mystical day, why not retire to the Garden Cottage, set within its own private and peaceful orchard – the perfect place to spend your first night of married life? Overnight accommodation is also available for guests. There’s plenty of parking, and disabled facilities are available – even a helipad if you wish to impress your guests and arrive at the venue in style!

Historic Hedingham Castle, in the village of Castle Hedingham, Essex, is amongst one of the best preserved Norman keeps in England and will provide an unforgettable day spent with friends and family.
