Set within 40 acres of beautiful Essex parkland, with a sweeping driveway, manicured lawns and lakes, barns and cottages, Leez Priory, fifteen minutes north of Chelmsford, is a stunning and idyllic wedding venue for your Special Day. The impressive Tudor Manor has justifiably been a three-times winner of Wedding Ideas Magazine’s ‘Best Wedding Venue in Essex’ and a preferred venue for a quarter of a century. Here, you are assured of an array of romantic backgrounds for your memorable wedding photographs.
There is a choice of seven delightful settings for your civil ceremony, including the historical Tower. The Great Hall, with its exposed beams and feature fireplace, is the perfect place for your wedding breakfast — a capacity of 74 guests. For larger parties, the charming Coach House Barn is at your disposal and can seat up to 100 guests. The dance floor has been newly transformed and is an ideal contemporary space for you and your guests to dance the night away.

Also, within the Main House, you’ll find the Tudor Room — a reception room full of character, with exposed beams and a large inglenook fireplace; and the oak-panelled Light Oak Room with a baby grand piano. The giant oak doors on either side of the Carriageway date back to the 16th. century, and there’s a cartwheel chandelier and medieval flagstone floor. Alternatively, why not hold an outdoor ceremony (weather permitting) and choose the unique setting beneath the carriageway? If you wish, you may hire the entire house and invite up to 250 guests.
Accommodation is no problem: there’s a beautiful, private Fisherman’s Cottage with a hot tub reserved for the bride and bridesmaids to stay the night before the wedding day; twenty-five pretty bedrooms available for your guests, including the Bridal Suite complete with four-poster bed and Jacuzzi bath; and three lodges in the grounds.
Finally, with a babbling brook, wooded areas, a sunny croquet lawn (ideal for your canapé reception) and two lakes, there is certainly no shortage of magical backdrops to choose from for your wonderful wedding photographs. Although Leez Priory is a large wedding venue, it still maintains an intimate atmosphere. A place you and your friends will never forget.
