Gorse Hill itself has enjoyed a rich heritage as a private residence for many Edwardian characters and a training college for both the British Railways Board and the Indo-Suez Bank. Now, having been refurbished and operating as a hotel, conference centre and wedding venue, the tranquil gardens and romantic atmosphere of this wonderful country house provides the perfect backdrop for stunning wedding photography as well as memories to treasure for a life time.
This venue can accommodate wedding parties of all sizes. Three interlinked rooms – the Lounge, Restaurant and Board Room – are available, each licensed to stage civil ceremonies and partnerships and each retaining the splendour and elegance of the Edwardian era through traditional interior décor and furnishings.
The Lounge has a capacity of 90 for ceremonies and wedding breakfasts. This room lends itself perfectly as a venue for both summer and winter wedding celebrations. French doors open out onto the lawns, enabling guests to relax and enjoy refreshments within the peaceful external surroundings. In winter, the authentic wood burning fire provides a focal point for ceremonies and gives a homely, cosy feel to evening events.
Great wedding photo opportunities
The Restaurant, again with views overlooking the lawns, accommodates 90 guests or for intimate ceremonies and formal dining, the smaller, more secluded, Boardroom can accommodate up to 35 guests. Combine these three elegant rooms together and the space instantly transforms into the perfect venue for up to 250 guests to enjoy evening celebrations and also take advantage of the vast external surroundings.
In keeping with the outstanding standards depicted throughout this grand mansion, catering and accommodation are also of first class quality. Cuisine, designed from tailor made menus by the experienced catering team, is available to meet all budgetary and culinary preferences with freshly sourced, seasonal ingredients forming the basis of a comprehensive range of starters, mains, and desserts. Complementary wines, spirits, aperitifs, toasts and Champagnes from around the world are also provided via a choice of wedding packages. These also encompass a wide array of wedding services – use of a dedicated toast master, cake stand and knife, honeymoon suite, etc – all designed to take the worry out of wedding planning.
In addition to the luxurious honeymoon suite there are 50 ensuite bedrooms, each with tasteful décor and modern facilities, giving wedding parties the ability to spend more time amongst family and friends and enjoy the charming elegance of this stunning countryside location.
