Nonsuch Mansion Wedding Venue in Surrey

Information about the venue

Battlements, stained glass windows, royal heritage and Georgian architecture all feature heavily in the appearance of Nonsuch Mansions. A beautiful wedding venue in Surrey.  In fact, it’s difficult to decide whether this impressive venue should be categorised as a castle, palace or grand stately home. These unique characteristics, together with its impressive 300 acre countryside location, set this wonderful Georgian mansion apart as a stunning wedding celebration venue and an ideal backdrop to capture incredible photographic shots.

Historic setting

Situated on the East side of Nonsuch Park, near Cheam, the venue retains the historic name of the palace, home of Henry VIII, which was located nearby. While the original building dates back to the late 1700s, the south front and staterooms were added in 1806 to recreate a ‘modern echo’ of the Palace, and the final result is this fabulous Grade II listed Tudor Gothic style mansion.

The interior of Nonsuch mansion reflects both a regal and periodic elegance through its spacious rooms with high ceilings, crests and coats of arms along architraves, traditional bay windows, stunning stain glass windows and large gilt edged portraiture. Two beautifully decorated state rooms – The Rose Room or Orchid Room – are available for hosting civil ceremonies and partnerships and each can be tailor made to complement wedding colour themes and décor.

Fantastic Wedding Photo Opportunities

The larger of the two, the Orchid Room, can accommodate up to 120 guests. This is an imposing space, featuring golden chandeliers, long panelled mirrors, medieval motifs and an exquisite stained glass window backdrop. The room can be divided into two separate areas through the use of tall white shutter doors, and a triple bay window overlooks the extensive exterior garden areas.

For smaller, more intimate, ceremonies, the Rose Room is a delightful cube shaped space suitable for up to 80 guests. As the name implies, roses play a significant role here as the room has an ornate Tudor rose motif ceiling. The Rose Room features three floor to ceiling length Georgian sash windows which give it a light, airy ambience.

There is also a spacious first floor dressing room with private cloakroom, which provides ample space for bridal parties to use in preparation for wedding ceremonies.

For wedding celebrations and entertainment Nonsuch Mansion includes a selection of five reception locations, again combining original features with its own specific charm. Space is plentiful, so whether you’re hosting a traditional three-course wedding breakfast or an informal buffet, there are rooms to cater for individual needs. Additionally, marquees can be erected on the external lawns, instantly increasing the number of guests which can be accommodated.

Exclusive venue

Nonsuch Mansions operates as an exclusive wedding venue with the sole aim of helping you plan and create the wedding of your dreams. Bridal parties have exclusive use of the home and gardens and dedicated wedding planners are available to advise and assist. An experienced catering team is on hand to provide a wide selection of menus suitably designed for individual tastes, age groups and dietary needs. This spectacular venue is a unique blend of heritage, splendour and undeniable charisma – a perfect setting for a magical day.
