Shendish Manor has been described as a wedding venue “where Victorian splendour meets modern design.” The impressive historic mansion in Apsley, near Hemel Hempstead, dates back to 1853 and exudes charm and timeless elegance. Nestled in 160 acres of magnificent parkland and gardens, the grounds include an 18-hole golf course. The luxury hotel boasts 70 delightful bedrooms, and is just thirty minutes by train from London, and a ten-minute drive from Watford. For lovers of the Harry Potter books, the Warner Bros. Studio Tour is situated only five miles away. There is certainly no shortage here of stunning backdrops for your memorable photographs.
The venue is licensed to host civil ceremonies, and there is a choice of superb locations for your special day celebrations — both indoor and outdoors. Small intimate weddings of between 20 and 96 guests can be held in the Manor House. For larger weddings of 100 to 350 guests, choose the Apsley Suite with its lovely décor and grand chandeliers. The Dickinson Suite is great for medium-sized gatherings of 90 people, whereas the elegant Longman Suite has high ornate ceilings and oak panelling with access to picturesque gardens and the manor’s estate.

There’s also a fabulous sweeping staircase and a Jacobean fireplace. Alternatively, within the private gardens of the manor house, the Apsley Stone Gazebo is ideal for up to 350 guests. The Walled Gardens are perfect for a summertime drinks reception and offer further backgrounds for your romantic wedding photographs. Talking of summer, why not opt for a barbeque or hog-roast instead of a traditional formal dinner.
The wedding packages for Shendish Manor include room hire, complimentary accommodation for the happy couple, a drinks package and a three-course wedding breakfast. Further courses are available on request. You can even hire a photobooth and other extras for the evening reception. Discounted room rates are available for your guests.
