Upton Court in Ufton Nervet in Berkshire, is a charming wedding venue with a difference: one hundred percent of the profits from your wedding are gifted to a charity for disadvantaged and handicapped children. The stunning, 16th century, Grade I listed Manor House and timber-framed Tithe Barn are nestled within sixteen acres of beautiful countryside south west of Reading and easily accessed from the M4 motorway.
Registered as the Ufton Educational Trust, over 12,000 children are welcomed to Ufton Court every year. The charity’s work is supported by the profits raised from hosting romantic weddings held at the Tithe Barn on weekends. and mid-week during the school holidays. Through physical and mental activities held outside in woodland cabins and on the grounds, and through many residential visits, the children learn new life skills that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. The site also hosts creative projects, including theatre and music courses.
A rustic barn in Berkshire
Take your choice of the Tithe Barn, the fabulous Courtyard, the Archer’s Hall, or the Long Ceremony Room within the manor house to hold your civil ceremony. The Archer’s Hall, with its high beamed ceiling, will accommodate up to 80 guests; the Long Ceremony Room is ideally suited if you’re looking for a more traditional and stately setting. The Tithe Barn is great for intimate ceremonies and perfect for wedding breakfasts with up to 150 guests. The walled courtyard is where you’ll find the guests enjoying a glass of Champagne and nibbling canapés. The venue does not charge corkage, so you are welcome to supply your own alcohol for your toast, wedding breakfast, and reception.
Beautiful wedding venue in the South East
Both inside and outside, you will find no shortage of wonderful backdrops for your special wedding photographs. In the spring, the woodland is a blaze of colour with impressive displays of bluebells and daffodils. In the summer, the lavender and roses become prominent, and in the autumn, the orchard is filled with apples. In the winter months, the whole area looks magical with a sprinkle of sparkling snow. When the day finally ends, there is a good variety of hotels and other accommodations available locally – many offering discounted rates.
