Landmark Arts Centre Wedding Venue in London

landmark arts centre wedding photographyInformation about the venue

If you’re planning a wedding reception in London, The Landmark Arts Centre wedding venue at Teddington, in the borough of Richmond upon Thames, is a unique setting and an excellent choice. Formerly known as The Church of St Alban The Martyr, the Grade II* listed building was constructed in the 1880s and designed for a congregation of well over a thousand people. By the 1970s, it had been declared redundant and had remained unused for many years.

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the local inhabitants, the de-consecrated church was saved from demolition and restored by English Heritage in the early 1990s. In 1995, it became the new home for The Landmark Arts Centre for the benefit of the community. Fans of the Norwegian pop group A-ha will recognise the building featured in their video of the song “The Sun Always Shines on TV”. The same romantic backdrops can feature in your memorable wedding photographs, too.

Gothic features

Today, The French Gothic-style building offers a mix of activities, including arts-related classes, and supports a variety of performing arts programmes, exhibitions and concerts. For a wedding reception / formal dinner, the building can accommodate around 220 to 240 guests, and the stage area is an ideal space for dancing.

Marvel at the variety of colourful stained-glass windows, the impressive high-beamed roof, the ornately carved oak pulpit embellished with gilded angels and positioned halfway down the nave, and the Somerset and Wiltshire limestone stonework. The Landmark spaces available within the centre include the Main Hall, the stage, the studio and the Bell Room. Please note: The Arts Centre is not licensed to conduct wedding ceremonies; however, some couples may choose to hold a blessing here.

A fantastic wedding venue

The unique setting of The Landmark Arts Centre will make your Special Day unforgettable, and the character of this historical old church will ensure that you and your loved one, your guests, friends and family all enjoy a wonderful experience. Together with a set of my stunning wedding photographs capturing the excitement and atmosphere of the day, you’ll recall many happy memories for years to come.
