Information about the venue
Back in 2014, I was honoured to be the first photographer in the world to shoot a wedding ceremony at The Shard. As one of London’s most iconic buildings, it was an amazing experience. The ceremony was an intimate affair held on the 34th Floor in the luxury five-star Shangri-La hotel. With double-height windows providing spectacular views across the Thames towards London Bridge and The City, there was certainly no shortage of stunning backdrops for my memorable photos.
The Shard is a 95-storey, 1,017ft tall skyscraper designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano. The hotel itself spans levels 34 to 52 of The Shard and is the height (excuse the pun!) of sophistication and elegance. Here your friends and loved ones can enjoy a magical day and an unforgettable experience.
Spectacular views
Take your choice of three impressive river-facing event rooms that are licensed for civil ceremonies, and accessed via a grand staircase — more wonderful photographic opportunities here. The rooms are named after the first of five constant virtues of Confucianism: Ren (benevolence), Yi (righteousness), and Li (propriety). The Ren is the largest of the rooms and has space for 100 guests for the wedding breakfast and 100 for the reception.
The entire 34th. floor can also be hired for exclusive use. For smaller ceremonies of up to 30 guests, the Li room is ideal. The Yi room offers an intimate venue for up to 12 guests. Also, on level 52, the signature bar, GONG Bar is available, complete with an infinity Sky Pool. Other areas of the hotel may also be available.
Stunning wedding venue
Newly-weds have the pick of seventeen spacious luxury suites. 185 further bedrooms are available for your guests, if required. Depending on the number of rooms booked, you’ll be rewarded with some complimentary upgrades. Security is number one at this hotel: bags are checked on entering the hotel, and the internal lifts can only be operated by the guests.
