Surrey County Hall Wedding Venue

Information about the venue

The home of local governmental administration may not, at first thought, sound like an ideal environment to host a wedding ceremony and celebration. However, one glance at Surrey County Hall, with its iconic clock tower entrance, its beautiful inner courtyard and impressive Victorian architecture, immediately tells you that this is by no means a traditional civic centre Council chamber.

Surrey County Hall is a majestic Grade II Listed building that uniquely combines two worlds—the grace and elegance of the Victorian era and the modern-day convenience of central Kingston upon Thames. The end result is an extraordinary picturesque venue, a timeless backdrop to stage a memorable occasion.

Surrey County Hall’s unique character is apparent from its clock tower entrance hall. Light streams through stained glass windows, and the oak doors, original mosaic flooring, and magnificent sweeping stone staircase are perfect for capturing the first of many superb wedding photography shots.

From here, a multitude of function rooms await. Surrey County Hall is licenced for civil ceremonies and partnerships and provides exclusive use of rooms and the courtyard for wedding celebrations. From the lavish banqueting style of the Grand Hall, the smaller, more intimate Committee Rooms and suites and even a traditional Crown Court setting, the venue offers a range of spectacular spaces guaranteed to add extra sparkle to a magical wedding event.

Fantastic Wedding Photo Opportunities

The Grand Hall is the largest and most lavish function room. Up to 120 guests can be accommodated for dining purposes and up to 150 for a ceremony. Gilt chandeliers, oak pillars, panelling imposing historical portraiture, and a full-length stained glass window elegantly portray Victorian décor at its finest.

For a room with a view, the Ashcombe Suite provides a worthy alternative for both ceremonies and receptions. Licensed to accommodate up to 124 guests, this large, bright, versatile room overlooks the cobblestoned courtyard and gardens and is an idyllic setting for outdoor refreshments.

The Old Crown Court Room, with its authentic wood panelling and original bench features, has a distinctive air of mystery. Although no longer a fully operational court facility, the room has been used in many film and TV productions. As such, memorable wedding photography will instantly provide a unique topic of conversation for many years to come. With space to accommodate up to 64 guests, the Crown Court Room is suitable for smaller, more intimate wedding ceremonies.

A comprehensive selection of professional, experienced external caterers provides catering. The Function Team based at Surrey County Hall can provide sample menus that will cater to all age groups, tastes, and dietary needs. Using freshly sourced ingredients and produce to create delicious, beautifully presented wedding fare, tailor-made menus can easily be adapted to complement the extravagance of the Grand Hall for either traditional wedding receptions or more modest evening buffet-style requirements.

Summary

Whether your preference is classical elegance or something slightly more unusual, Surrey County Hall, with its rich Victorian splendour and versatile array of ceremony spaces, gives you the opportunity to create your own truly wonderful wedding experience.
