Bartholomew Barn Wedding Venue in Sussex

Bartholemew Barn Wedding Venue in SussexInformation about the venue

Whatever time of the year you’re getting married, Bartholomew Barn in West Sussex is the perfect choice if you’re looking for a charming and romantic rural wedding venue nestled in rolling open countryside and woodland. The magnificent, Grade II listed barn was built in 1884 and is located midway between Chichester and Crawley, on the edge of the South Downs National Park, and is easily accessible from Petworth, Midhurst, Billingshurst and Pulborough.

Beautiful wedding barn

Bartholomew barn is indeed a stunning place to exchange vows with your loved one, and the idyllic location offers many wonderful photographic opportunities to capture memorable moments of your Special Day spent with friends and family. Take a look inside the cosy barn and you can’t fail to be impressed by the tall vaulted oak-beamed ceiling, the exposed mellow brick walls, dazzling chandeliers and full-height windows that flood the room with natural light, while the doors lead outside in to the courtyard. At one end of the barn is a huge wood burner with a roaring fire – ideal for a winter wedding ceremony or on chilly autumnal days. The barn can accommodate up to 120 guests for the wedding breakfast.

The quirky Potting Shed that has been stylishly converted and has a spacious room with en suite bathroom, and is used as a dressing room for the bride and her bridesmaids to get ready in before the ceremony, and sip Champagne perhaps! It also offers a haven of peace for the newly married couple to retreat to during the hectic day.

Amazing Wedding Photo Opportunities at Bartholomew Barn

The picturesque Courtyard is a suntrap and just perfect for celebrating outside, accommodating over 150 people for a civil ceremony, with optional large overhead umbrellas offering shade from the sun or rain. Here, your guests can mingle and enjoy al fresco dining at its best, a drinks reception and barbeque in the evening. The large fishpond is a superb feature and, surrounded by plants, offers a stunning backdrop for your wedding photographs. Informal seating and patio heaters make this a cosy space to spend the evening, with twinkling fairy lights in the trees above. In addition to the main barn, an open-sided barn runs the length of the courtyard. Amassed with flowers, this is the place to accommodate an outdoor bar and evening barbecue or hog roast.

The Summer House at Bartholomew Barn has stylish seating and colourful cushions, and is a peaceful place to meet with the registrar before the ceremony, and a charming, comfortable and quiet space for guests to go during the evening’s entertainment.
