Blackstock Country Estate Wedding Venue in Sussex

Blackstock Country Estate Wedding Venue in SussexInformation about the venue

Twenty-six miles northeast of Brighton and set in seventy acres of beautiful South Downs National Park countryside, you’ll find an ever-popular wedding venue: Blackstock Country Estate. The two stunning barns (one of which dates back to the 16th. century) are the perfect place to share your special day mingling with friends and family. A more idyllic and beautiful location would be hard to find in this area. As one happy, very satisfied couple put it: “We looked at around twelve to fifteen venues in East Sussex and found Blackstock Country Estate to be by far the best.”

The venue is surrounded by open meadows with wild deer roaming freely, horses, bluebell woodland and peaceful lakes – all providing a wonderful backdrop for your memorable photographs, and is licensed for weddings and civil ceremonies up to 180 guests. If you prefer to exchange your vows in a church, the historic church of St. Peter and St. Paul is nearby. There is also onsite overnight accommodation for up to twenty-two people, a bridal cottage with a four-poster bed, and three hotels within a ten-minute drive.

Great Wedding Photo Opportunities

The barns, known as The Tudor Barn and the Granary, have been lovingly restored and can be hired separately or together. The Granary boasts a wealth of rustic features, including a sandstone floor and exposed vaulted beamed ceilings with impressive antique chandeliers providing romantic ambient lighting. There’s a courtyard outside where guests can enjoy the spectacular views of the countryside. A spacious mezzanine floor overlooks the main barn, which is a great place to relax and an ideal spot to let your photographer’s imagination run riot! The Granary also benefits from its own bridal room, which can be used to prepare for the big day or simply as a place to sit and relax away from the hustle and bustle.

The Tudor Barn dates back five hundred years and has also been tastefully and sympathetically renovated and refurbished. It features a wealth of ancient oak beams, with plenty of room for dining, dancing and a variety of entertainment. An unusual feature is the minstrel’s gallery positioned above the oak-finished bar. Large chandeliers, made from cartwheels, add to the rustic charm of this generous-sized room, which also has additional mood lighting. The courtyard is ideal for welcome drinks and canapés before the wedding breakfast, whilst the ceremony wing of the Tudor Barn has air conditioning for those hot summer days and evenings.

Summary of this venue

Blackstock Country Estate is a superb wedding venue offering unique appeal and character within a beautiful rural and romantic setting – a special place that you and your guests will remember for many years to come, also helped by a set of my stunning photographs.
