Wedding Photography at Farnham Castle
Here’s another great day to reflect on when I worked as a Farnham Castle wedding photographer in Surrey. The magnificent castle, set on a hill not far from Guildford, is rich in history, with many stylish and contemporary features that result in iconic photography.
It was founded by the Bishop of Winchester and dates back many centuries; nearly 900 years! The castle initially featured a square tower that was built on a mound in 1138 and has been lovingly restored to retain it’s original features from the middle ages. Set within beautiful grounds, including idyllic gardens and magical woodlands, it has a wonderful Anglo-Saxon atmosphere, with plenty of opportunities for epic pictures.

This immense medieval venue is perfect for weddings of all sizes. At Farnham Castle, guests can marvel at the monumental Great Hall with its towering ceiling and stunning stained glass windows. The magnificent Lantern Hall is a fantastic setting for the ceremony, with a large capacity and an abundance of light, making it a photographer’s dream to work in. For the preparations in the morning, brides can enjoy the luxurious Gatehouse, a three-bedroomed cottage within the residence.
The historic castle features 34 bedrooms, which means there is plenty of space for all your wedding guests. Its elegant charm makes it an exclusive and sizable castle with endless photo opportunities. The iconic turrets, substantial stone walls and pristine lawns provide the perfect backdrops for any king or queen, so you’ll feel very regal on your special day!
Great photo opportunities at Farnham Castle
My favourite areas for couple portraits at Farnham Castle include the lawns, the keep and under some of the magnificent trees. Wedding photos here look elegant and ooze class.
The castle lawns in this beautiful setting, overlooking the town of Farnham, were the picture-perfect setting for Sacha and Alex’s spring wedding in April. The bride and groom wanted a medieval-style venue for their big day, and they felt like king and queen as they tied the knot in the royal Lantern Hall. I really enjoyed capturing some exceptional moments for the couple with my cameras to tell the story of their big day. It feels gratifying to create images that they will keep forever.
As the night drew in, I couldn’t resist finishing their photography coverage with some atmospheric twilight images of the newlyweds. Under the romantic night sky overlooking Farnham, I recorded some intimate portraits to complement their photo gallery. I was absolutely delighted with their response to the pictures and very grateful to them for having me along to capture their wedding at Farnham Castle
