Documentary Wedding Photos at Hedingham Castle

Hedingham Castle in Essex is magnificent and one of the country’s finest wedding venues. Set in over 160 acres of land and with its 900-year-old keep, this impressive Georgian Mansion House features immaculately presented gardens with scenic views. From the grand Banqueting Hall with a Minstrels’ Gallery to the impressive grounds, this is a venue that is sure to wow your wedding guests. Dating back to the early 12th century, this wedding venue is a superb choice for those seeking an authentic Medieval experience!

I’d been longing to shoot a wedding at this incredible venue for several years, and when Helena and Terry were recommended to me for their big day at the castle, I was very excited!

A Medieval wedding day in Essex

The day started in one of the onsite cottages, where Helena and her bridesmaids prepared themselves for the celebrations. Following a very romantic candlelit ceremony in the remarkable Banqueting Hall, the newlyweds headed towards the Mansion House, stopping for a large group shot with all of their guests on Henry VII’s Tudor Bridge. It was a very hot day at Hedingham Castle, and the champagne drink reception was welcomed as everyone quenched their thirst on the beautiful tulip lawn.

After plenty of mingling and lots of natural reportage images of the guests with the couple, I took Helena and Terry for their photos, making use of the towering bridge and stunning ornamental lake. There are so many exquisite opportunities for amazing photos at Hedingham Castle that the possibilities are endless, and this is just one of the reasons I love working at this venue.

Reception in the regal Tapestry Room

After the meal and lots of entertaining speeches, it was time to enter the magnificent Tapestry Room that would make the perfect setting for the evening reception. I had a wonderful day in Essex working at Hedingham Castle with Helena and Terry and here are my favourite images from their big day at this most impressive wedding venue…..
