Destination Wedding Photographer in Italy
Sorrento is small resort with a huge reputation and is famous for it’s lemons, fantastic hotels, plunging cliffs and of course it’s wonderful history.
The town is located on the western tip of the Amalfi coast and a short drive from Pompeii and Positano. Tourism has been very popular here for some time since the poet Byron inspired a long list of literary geniuses who came here for their holidays including Tolstoy, Goethe and Dickens. But the romance continues as you take a stroll through the vibrant town to take in the palatial hotels, busy marquetry shops and the finest Italian cusine washed down with a healthy glass of limoncello!
When Nick and Sarah got in touch to ask me to photograph their wedding at the picturesque Cloisters de San Francesco, a beautiful 14th-century monastery in the heart of Sorrento, I was very excited and of course happy to oblige! Their ceremony took place in the tranquil courtyard lined with beautiful flowers luscious greenery. There are so many idyllic locations both there and in the surrounding areas so after the couple exchanged their vows we took a stroll along the coast to take in the breath-taking scenery.
Driving and parking can be a real challenge in the bustling town of Sorrento so I instead hitched a ride on the back of the wedding planner’s scooter in true Italian fashion! Luckily I survived and we traveled along the coast (stopping off along the way for some obligatory photographs!) until we arrived at the stunning Hotel Maravi in Don Pedro for the evening reception.
It was a fantastic day and an amazing trip all round and I’m very grateful to Nick and Sarah for having me along to photograph their wedding at the Cloisters de San Francesco in Sorrento.
“We just wanted to say a huge thank you for all your hard work. We are really excited to see all of the photos, which we are sure will be beautiful. We hope you enjoyed the day and are having a nice time in Sorrento. Speak to you soon and thanks again, Mr and Mrs Boxall!”
